Very clean sound, and much easier and more accurate than taking notes by hand. I'm a freelance writer/editor, and the combo of my Olympus DS-2 digital recorder and the TP-7 recording device is absolutely essential to my business. You just plug one end in the recorder, slip the rubber bud in your ear, and it records both sides of the conversation. I like the fact that I can use it with any cell phone or land line.Be forewarned that the wire is somewhat delicate and therefore should be treated with care. I used mine heavily for probably 5 years or so before having to replace it--pretty good return on investment.
Had I known that when I got the device it would have been a deal breaker. This little device just plugs into my Olympus DS-40 recorder, and makes the recording. I've been searching for months for a way to record telephone discussions on my Blackberry. I had a program on my Palm Treo that worked wonderfully, but RIM won't permit such an application on Blackberrys, I'm told. The sound quality is very good. It works using a bluetooth device, although that's not a perfect combination.I still would prefer to record directly onto the Blackberry, but this is the next best thing.
I'm a writer and do a lot of phone interviews and I've tried just about every device on the market, some simple, some more expensive and complex. Just carry on with your phone conversation as normal and, provided that your subject has a good phone connection (cell phones and cordless phones are the worst), you'll get a perfect recording of both ends of the conversation. You simply can't beat the simplicity of this device. For $10 this is probably the best and simplest solution around. All you do is plug it into your recorder (I use an Olympus micro cassette recorder) and put the little microphone in your ear and away you go. So far that thin wire that connects the two ends is holding up, but I plan to order a second unit as a backup just in case--and again, at $10, that's such a tiny investment, who cares. Buy it, you'll love it.Now if I could just find a simple way to transcribe those interviews.
You'll never miss any details of the conversations you may have, especially if what you're talking about is important or very long and important it's handy as h&%#.I dont leave what I'm listening to to chance. It's too costly. GET IT. Olympus TP-7 Telephone Recording Device
This is simple to use, and it works very well. Just plug it into your recording device, put the earbud in your ear, and it records both sides of the conversation.
